COASTAL AIR SERVICE, INC.
AERIAL APPLICATOR PILOT
Our aerial applicator pilots operate rotary-wing aircraft to precisely dispense pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds over agricultural crops, forestry, or industrial areas. They conduct low-altitude, high-precision flying, ensuring accurate coverage while adhering to safety regulations, monitoring weather conditions, and maintaining strict, accurate records of chemical applications. Aircraft we use range from mostly OH58A/C and some Bell 206A/B/L series helicopters.
Key Responsibilities
-
Precision Application: Applying liquid (fertilizer, herbicide) or dry materials at low altitudes using precise navigation, often with onboard GPS computers.
-
Safety & Maintenance: Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections, performing routine maintenance on the helicopter, and ensuring safety when handling chemicals.
-
Flight Management: Assessing site risks (wires, structures), monitoring wind and weather, and ensuring compliance with FAA and environmental regulations.
-
Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed, accurate documentation of chemical applications for growers and regulatory compliance.
-
Logistics & Communication: Working closely with ground crews for loading, often engaging in "hot fueling" (refueling while the engine runs), and interacting directly with growers.
